DETROIT (WWJ) – Police are asking for the community's help finding a teenage suspect who is considered to be armed and dangerous after a Friday afternoon shooting in Detroit.
Police officials say they're looking for 19-year-old Jared Barber, who allegedly shot an 18-year-old woman near the Corktown neighborhood.
The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of E. Lafayette, according to police. Barber then allegedly fled the scene on foot.
The victim was listed in critical condition, as of Monday afternoon.
Authorities have not released any other information about the alleged shooting, including what prompted the gunfire or whether Barber knew the victim.
Officials released Barber's photo on Monday and are asking anyone who recognizes him, knows of his whereabouts or otherwise knows something about the shooting to call the Detroit Police Department's 7th Precinct at 313-596-5740 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
