DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for a trio of young suspects who allegedly stole a man's car at gunpoint on Detroit's east side on Labor Day.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a Sunoco gas station at Nevada and Conant, near 7 Mile and Ryan Roads, according to Detroit police.
A 39-year-old man was sitting in a gray 2012 Chrysler 300 when three armed suspects walked up and "announced a robbery," officials said.
The suspects stole his money, cell phone and car before driving away. No injuries were reported in the carjacking.
Police describe two suspects as males in their late teens or early 20s, and the third as a male or female in their early 20s. All of them were wearing black ski masks and black pants. Two suspects had on black sweatshirts, while one was wearing a gray hoodie.
Officials released images of the suspects shortly before walking up to the victim. Anyone who recognizes the suspects or knows something about the carjacking is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's Commercial Auto Theft Unit at 313-596-2555.
