DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are turning to the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly vandalized and lit a Tesla on fire over two weeks ago in Detroit.
The Detroit Police Department released footage of the incident that occurred on Sunday, March 3 at 1:15 p.m. in the 70 block of W. Alexandrine.
Police said a male suspect walked into the parking structure and threw a brick through the rear window of a red 2023 Tesla before walking away.
In surveillance footage, the man comes walking back to the electric vehicle a short while later and dumps accelerant through the shattered rear window before igniting it.
As the flames leap from the back seat, the suspect turns and flees the scene on foot.

Anyone who recognizes this suspect or has any information about the case has been asked to call the Detroit Police Department's Arson Unit at 313-596-2940. Tipsters can remain 100% anonymous by contacted Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
