DETROIT (WWJ) – A toddler found wandering by himself on the city's west side has been reunited with his family.

Detroit Police put out an alert early Tuesday morning, looking for the parents of the little boy.

Officers found him alone in the area of Lasher and W. Outer Dr. around 3 a.m.

About an hour after the alert was put out, the Detroit Police Department said he'd been reunited with his family.

WWJ Reporter Charlie Langton talked to the family, who identified the boy as 2-year-old A.J.

The family told Langton that A.J. wandered off, but was taken to Detroit's 8th Precinct by someone who spotted him in the area.

When the boy's mother and father woke up, they saw a picture of their son on the Detroit Police Department's Facebook page, and went to pick him up.

That post has since been deleted.

The boy's auntie, Johnette Hinton talked to WWJ's Langton, "He's fine. He's just a busy body. Almost two years old, but he's fine and safe now."

Hinton said she was worried after she saw the post by Detroit Police.

Police said the incident remains under investigation.
