DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police have released video of a vehicle they believe was involved in the drive-by shooting that left a 15-year-old boy critically injured early Tuesday morning.
The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at a home on Stahelin Avenue in the area of 7 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway on the city's west side.
Authorities said Tuesday morning that the teen was spending the night with a friend when someone fired multiple shots into the home, striking the 15-year-old in the head. Two other children, a 14-year-old and a 9-year-old, were reportedly in the bedroom when the teen was shot, but they were not injured.
Early Tuesday evening Detroit police tweeted a video of a “vehicle of interest” in the case.
WWJ’s Charlie Langton reported early Tuesday that the boy was being treated at Children's Hospital. He was said to be in critical condition.
Detroit police believe it was a targeted shooting, but the teen was not the intended target.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
Anyone who knows something about the shooting can submit anonymous tips to 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
