BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Vandals stole baseball equipment, ripped out electric wiring, destroyed a shed and more in an attack on a downriver park primarily used by Little League teams, police said.
According to Detective Lt. Andrew Starzec of the Brownstown Township police via the News Herald, vandals came through and caused damage to the Arsenal Road Park located south of Van Horn Road sometime between 2 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday, leaving police and residents angry.
Starzec said the vandals knocked over a portable bathroom, ripped electric wiring from a lawnmower, stole baseball equipment. broke fences around the park, bashed in a equipment shed among other damage.
“I don’t know what the heck their problem is,” Starzec said to the News Herald. “It’s childish, but I’m not sure this was just kids.”
Starzec explained that ripping the wiring out of the lawnmower requires strength and he is suspicious the damage was caused by adults.
The detective lieutenant said the vandalism only hurts the children who come to the park to play.
Anyone with information about the vandalism should call Brownstown Township Police at 734-675-1300.
