MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - Two Michigan businesses are joining forces to make marijuana-infused drinks at the site of the Old Gibraltar Trade Center in Metro Detroit.

Blake's Hard Cider with Pleasantrees Cannabis announced they will begin joint processing operations in Mount Clemens, using weed and alcohol to make a variety of alternative beverages, according to the Detroit Free Press.

In addition, Pleasantrees will operate a medical marijuana facility which will open for curbside service on Friday, Feb. 18.

The Gibraltar Trade Center operated in Macomb County off I-94 for nearly 40 years before closing in 2017. The property was then sold to businessman James George in the same year who later obtained a medical marijuana facility license for the building.

Founder and CEO of Pleasantrees, Randy Buchman, said he had his eye on the site for cannabis operations for quite sometime, likening his newest business venture to climbing his very own "Mt. Everest summit."

"This location is most certainly a flagship for Pleasantrees and will ultimately become a major destination for cannabis consumers far and wide," Buchman said in a news release.

This marks the fifth retail location for Buchman's company. Pleasantrees currently has stores in Hamtramck, Houghton Lake, East Lansing and Lincoln Park. The company currently has a marijuana growing and processing facility in Harrison Township and out east in Massachusetts.

Andrew Blake, founder of Blake's Hard Cider, said the idea to begin making cannabis and CBD beverages came as the company brainstormed ways to expand on their products, ultimately leading to their partnership with Pleasantrees.

The two companies plan to release full details about their collaboration at a later date.
