DETROIT (WWJ) - State police are continuing to investigate an armed carjacking and police pursuit that occurred on a major Detroit freeway early Friday morning.

According to the Michigan State Police, troopers met up with a male driver on southbound I-75 near Clay after reports of an armed robbery came in around 1:20 am.

The man, identified as the victim, told police he was driving his 2022 Ram pick up truck when an unidentified vehicle rear-ended him. He pulled off to the side of the freeway when three armed Black men came up to him, took his truck by force and sped off.

MSP said the victim was not hurt in the carjacking and detectives were able to track the location of his stolen truck using some of its technology features.

A pursuit began with troopers chasing the Ram before losing sight of it.

While searching the area, state police spotted the truck near the intersection of Curtis and Outer Drive in Detroit before once again trapping into the truck's technology to pinpoint its end destination at an address on Sorrento.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident with no suspects in custody. The occupants inside the home on Sorrento have been questioned and detectives are working on gathering evidence from the stolen truck.

Additional information in the case pends further investigation, MSP said.

No other details were released.
