GROVELAND TWP. (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police investigators are searching for an armed suspect in a road rage shooting along I-75 in Northern Oakland County.

According the MSP Second District, the incident happened Thursday evening, along northbound I-75 near Grange Hall Rd. in Groveland Township.

Police said the victim was driving on the freeway, at around 6:20 p.m., when she encountered the suspect, whom she said was "driving aggressively," passing on the shoulder and trying to drive her off the road.

The suspect pointed a gun at the victim, she called 9-1-1 and that's when she said the gunman shot at her through his open passenger window. He then went around her, rolled down the driver-side window and shot at her again, the woman reported.

The suspect then sped away, in what the victim described as an older model passenger car.

The woman, fortunately, was not shot or injured.

“Here is another case of senseless gun violence because someone couldn’t handle driving down the road," said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, in a statement, "While the victim wasn’t physically hurt, she will have to deal with the mental aspects of this shooting."

An investigation by the MSP Freeway Investigative Support Team is ongoing.

Friday afternoon, troopers closed the northbound freeway at Grange Hall to search for evidence.
