(WWJ) A Macomb County man will spend 15 to 30 years in prison for breaking into rapper Eminem's Clinton Township home.

Court documents show Matthew Hughes was sentenced on Tuesday, more than a month after he was convicted on home invasion and stalking charges.

Police arrested Hughes last August after he made his way into Eminem's Clinton Township home for a second time.

After the first break-in, which happened in 2020, Hughes reached a plea deal and was sentenced to probation. In that case, the rapper told police he woke up to find Hughes standing behind him. When Eminem asked the stranger why he was in his home, Hughes said he was there to kill him, according to court testimony.

Hughes was previously arrested in 2019 after he was found sleeping in a guest house on a Rochester Hills property that Eminem once had owned.

During the sentencing on June 17, a Macomb County judge also ordered Hughes not to have any contact with Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers II, or be within 500 feet of his home, school or work.

Court records list Hughes' most recent address as a motel on Gratiot Ave. in Clinton Township.
