DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Last month, Ford Moto Co. joined the growing list of companies requiring more in-office work from their employees.
And some are not too happy about it.
An anti-Return to Office message was plastered on meeting screens across Ford's Dearborn Campus on Thursday morning.
The message read "(expletive) RTO," with a photo of CEO Jim Farley's face behind a red circle and a slash.
The photos were swiftly taken down, but they quickly circulated on social media.
Ford is investigating the incident.
Back in June of this year, Ford notified its global salaried workforce of the new policy — requiring most employees to be in the office four days a week, starting Sept. 1.
In a statement, a Ford spokesperson explained the reasoning behind the decision:
“We believe working together in person on a day-to-day basis will help accelerate Ford’s transformation into a higher growth, higher margin, less cyclical and more dynamic company.”
The company noted that many of its white-collar employees were not fully remote, but instead were working a hybrid schedule — typically in the office three or more days a week. This new policy, Ford said, formalizes and increases that expectation.
