Family seeks answers in case of woman shot and killed while getting into her car in front of her Detroit home

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police and a grieving family are reaching out for tips in the case of a woman who was gunned down outside her east side Detroit home.

Now six months since the slaying, there have been no arrests, and no suspects have been named in the case of 45-year-old Davina Brooks.

According to Crime Stoppers of Michigan, which put out a fresh request for information, Brooks was murdered at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022, in the 4000 block of Fairview St. near Canfield St.

Police said she was getting into her car in front of her home when she was shut and killed by an unknown person.

Authorities have not discussed a possible motive for the killing, as the investigation continues.

Family members, including Brooks' mother, father and daughter, are scheduled to speak at Crime Stoppers news conference on Monday, Feb. 20, pleading with the public for answers.
