DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Michigan State Police are touting a big drug bust by a multijurisdictional task force in the City of Detroit.

On Wednesday, MSP said the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) - Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of four pounds of crystal methamphetamine.

Police said the bust took place in Detroit, but no further information on the location was released.

The meth, according to MSP, was estimated to have a street value of around $40,000.

As of Friday, charges were still pending against an unnamed suspect, and the investigation was ongoing.

Police added that COMET was assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in this case.

COMET is a drug task force made up of officers from the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, police from Chesterfield, St Clair Shores, Shelby Twp., Roseville, MSP and federal partners.

“We continue to see the destruction to our communities caused by the dealers of these synthetic narcotics,” said MSP First Lt, Mike Shaw, in a statement. “We will continue to work with our federal and local partners to get these dealers and their drugs out of our neighborhoods.”

MSP said this operation was supported by a Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) awarded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, and administered by the MSP.
