BRIGHTON (WWJ) - Fire crews from several cities worked on to contain a large fire that broke out Wednesday night in an installation trailer at The Green Panel Company in Brighton.
According to the Brighton Area Fire Authority Chief Mike O'Brian, the trailer was parked inside the company building in the 4000 block of U.S. Old 23, just north of I-96, when it burst into the flames and quickly spread to nearby batteries, further fueling the fire.
O'Brian said there were no fire hydrants near the facility and sprinklers had not been installed in the building. Additional fire fighters from South Lyon and Green Oak Township were called to help battle the blaze, which crews were able to put out before it could spread to other units.
While O'Brian said the building was saved, some commercial suites were affected and smoke damage had spread throughout most of the structure.
Officials reported no injuries.
