AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) -- Three people, including a firefighter, were injured in a blaze at an Oakland County mobile home park early Monday morning.
According to the Auburn Hills Fire Department (AHFD), just after 1 a.m., a crew was dispatched to the 300 block of north Squirrel Road due to reports of a structure fire at the Oakland Estates mobile home park.
When firefighters arrived, they found a deck and shed engulfed in flames. According to Fire Chief Adam Massingill, the fire had already spread to the back of the home and was threatening two other nearby residences.
Fire rescue was informed that everyone had made it out of the mobile home.
While crews were able to enter the residence, they quickly found that the fire was also burning in the attic as well as under the structure. They opted for an external strategy instead and extinguished most of the blaze with firehoses and aerial devices.
The fire was officially cleared around 5 a.m.
Chief Massingill commended the fire crews on their efforts, saying they did an excellent job bringing the fire under control and protecting nearby homes.
"They did a fantastic job containing it to the building of origin. The crews worked really hard. They encountered smoke and fire both up in the attic of the structure as well as underneath the structure, so it presented some unique challenges."
AHDF reported that two residents and one firefighter were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation following medical emergencies that occurred during the fire.
Although there were no updates as of 8:30 a.m., Chief Massingill said AHFD would be following up on all three cases.
AHFD credited fire Personnel from Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Township, Rochester City and Orion Township with providing aid and backup at the scene. Alliance Mobile Health provided EMS standby, and Auburn Hills Police assisted as well.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
