HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Authorities in Macomb County are warning residents to stay off the ice after an incident nearly turned deadly.
On Monday morning around 10 a.m., a fisherman fell through the ice in Harrison Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
A fellow fisherman nearby was able to come to the man's rescue, while marine deputies from the sheriff's department also responded.
The man was unhurt, but the situation prompted a warning from officials to exercise caution near frozen bodies of water around Metro Detroit.
"No ice is safe," the Macomb County Sheriff tweeted.
