LANSING (WWJ) Five teens and young adults were injured in an overnight shooting in Lansing.

Lansing Police said in a press statement that they responded to reports of a shooting around 1 a.m. Sunday, in a commercial area on W. Holmes Street (1300 block) near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

When they arrived, they said they found "a large crowd of people" and "multiple shooting victims."

Five victims, ranging from 16 to 26 years old, were identified, according to police.

They were taken to the hospital. Two of the victims are in critical condition. The conditions of the other three have not been released.

"At the scene, several persons of interest were detained and multiple firearms were recovered," police said in their statement.

The Lansing Fire Department responded to help treat the injured at the scene. Lansing Police also requested assistance from other law enforcement departments.

Police said this "remains an active investigation" with investigators still at the scene to "determine the events that led up to the shooting."

More information will be released as it's obtained, Lansing Police said.
