DETROIT (WWJ) -- For the second year in a row, Ford is a big winner at the North American, Car Truck and Utility of the Year Awards.
Announced during a ceremony Tuesday morning at Huntington Place -- the former TCF Center -- the Ford Maverick was dubbed truck of the year and the Ford Bronco was named utility vehicle of the year.
The winners were selected by 50 jurors, including WWJ's auto beat reporter, Jeff GIlbert and John McElroy.
Ford President of the Americas Kumar Galhotra said this win was the result of a lot of hard work.
This is the second year in a row that Ford picks up awards for best truck and utility vehicle. Galhotra said it's a "great recognition" for their team that developed the "awesome" products and that he's proud of the relationship Ford has with their truck customers.
"We made some tough calls, for example, the call to exit the sedan market at some point and to start focusing on our icons," said Galhotra.
Car of the year went to the Honda Civic.
