WARREN (WWJ) Former Warren mayor Jim Fouts is throwing his hat back in the ring.

He has filed paperwork to run for a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives for the 14th District. He would run as a democrat against first-term incumbent Mike McFall (D-Hazel Park).

Fouts, who is in his eighties, ended his 16-year-run as Warren’s mayor in November because of a 2020 amendment to Warren’s City Charter that prevented elected officials from more than three terms, or a total of 12 years in office.

He fought back; but The Michigan Supreme Court refused to hear his case after the Court of Appeals ruled he was ineligible to run for a fifth term.

Former State Representative Lori Stone, 43, was elected in his place in November, becoming the city’s first female mayor.

Fouts and McFall will face off in August in a Democratic August Primary.
