GRAND BLANC (WWJ) — Grand Blanc High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday after officials say the school received a threat.
Two adjacent buildings on the East & West campus — Brendel Elementary and the Perry Center — were placed into "secure mode."
In a social media statement, Grand Blanc Community Schools officials said “a vague threat was received by 911, which involved Grand Blanc High School, causing the students and staff to go into lockdown as a precaution."
The district posted the statement around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 19. No further information was given about the exact time the caller made the alleged threat.
Police and school administrators were searching the building during lockdown and authorities "advised to send high school students home," officials said.
“There is no verification that this threat is credible,” the post read. “But we are choosing to err on the side of caution.”
WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell reported police were "going through Grand Blanc High School, as well as Perry Center and Brendel Elementary, hallway by hallway, room by room."
Authorities have not released any further specific details about the incident, including whether the anonymous caller has been identified.
This is the second the time the district has experienced this in the past three months. On December 13, 2024; GBCS shut down Grand Blanc East Middle School because of a bomb threat.
