DETROIT (WWJ) - Federal agents, state troopers and Detroit police officers converged on a home on Detroit's west side Wednesday morning.

Reporting from the scene, at Ash and Tillman, near I-96 and MLK Blvd, WWJ's Mike Campbell said there was a heavy police presence at a ranch home near the corner of the street, where police were seen using a battering ram to get into the house.

"First block in, there's a bunch of police vehicles, emergency vehicles," Campbell said. "I can tell that some are FBI, I can see it on the back of their camouflage SWAT gear. FBI, Detroit police, Michigan State police... They've got a ramming truck, they're inside a ranch house."

Campbell said a K-9 unit was working in the backyard, but the reason behind the heavy police presence remains a mystery.

Authorities had not issued an update on the situation, as of 7 p.m.

"Not sure what's going on or what happened or what they were after, but it looks like they have the situation under control as far as any activity here," Campbell said Wednesday morning.

Residents told Campbell they heard "booms" coming from the home, but were also unsure what lead to the unfolding situation.

WWJ is working to learning additional details. Authorities have so far not released any information about the developing incident.
