Confusion reigns across the state after Michigan announced that teachers and anyone over the age of 65 can get the vaccine starting today ... But teachers and others report that there's just nowhere to register for an appointment or to get information about availability.

But the calvary may be on its way: A call center for COVID vaccines at TCF opened at 9 a.m. today for Detroit residents 75 and older, K-12 teachers & support staff & childcare workers. Here's MORE information about registering for the vaccine in spots across the state if you're a healthcare worker, an educator or 65+.

The City of Detroit will begin scheduling 20,000 COVID vaccination appointments at the TCF center over the next four weeks, based on anticipated supply of vaccines from the state, Mayor Mike Duggan announced today. Those vaccines will be available initially to the following groups:

Who is eligible to receive the vaccine at TCF?

•             Any Detroit resident 75 and older

•             Any "good neighbor"  65 and older who drives a 75 year old to TCF

•             Group B essential workers, including K-12 teachers and support staff and child care workers

Access to vaccinations at TCF gradually will expand to other eligible groups as the supply of doses provided to the City allows.

Starting Monday, Detroit residents age 75 and older and their "good neighbor" drivers 65 and over, will be able to call 313-230-0505 to schedule an appointment at the TCF center. The first appointments will take place on Wednesday.

Detailed information on the TCF testing site is available at www.detroitmi.gov.  As additional independent vaccination sites at pharmacies and elsewhere come online in the city, a map of locations will be added to the website.

Vaccinations will be administered by appointment only. Workers and residents will not be vaccinated without having first made an appointment. Individuals can book an appointment by calling the scheduling number at 313-230-0505 from 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday.

Beaumont and Henry Ford hospitals are also letting people know when they're able to schedule an appointment to get the vaccine through the hospital with their respective patient portals. Demand was so overwhelming that Beaumont's miChart system crashed on Friday.
