(WWJ) -- Are we saying farewell to Depot Dogs…forever?

Throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Home Depot customers have been anxiously awaiting the return of its infamous hot dog cart.

Sadly, it appears that Michiganders may no longer be relishing in their renovation projects with their favorite frank in-hand.

In a statement on Facebook, the company Hot Diggitty Dog LLC, which runs the hot dog stand at the Home Depot in Northville at 7 Mile and Haggerty, delivered the devastating news.

“Hot Diggitty Dog has officially closed down at Home Depot in Michigan,” they wrote. “Home Depot has requested all hot dog stands in Michigan to close.”

There has been no word from Home Depot confirming the announcement, but commenters on the post are already feeling the Depot Dog nostalgia.

"My son would always want to go with grandpa and get a hotdog at Home Depot. It was their thing on Saturday afternoons until the pandemic," one person wrote. "They were looking forward to doing it again. So sad."

"Disappointing. Thanks for your years of service," another commenter added. "You kept the contractors nourished during long hours of work. Always a great product and friendly service. Hope you can relocate to other outlets."

Retail outlets that have been suggested to inherit the tradition of the home-improvement hot dog include Lowe's and Menards.
