PLYMOUTH (WWJ) – Metro Detroit drivers will have more road construction to know about this week.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, I-275 will be down to just one lane between Ann Arbor Road and 5 Mile Road for work at the I-96/M-14 interchange.
The freeway will be closed intermittently for 15-minute periods between Ann Arbor Road and the interchange on Monday and Tuesday.
Michigan Department of Transportation officials say drivers "need to plan for frequent delays and consider alternative routes."
MDOT crews will be adding temporary bridge supports under I-275 and prepare for traffic shifts.
The Ann Arbor Road ramp to northbound I-275 and the Newburgh Road ramp to westbound I-96 will be closed intermittently from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Oce this week's work is done, NB I-275 will return to two lanes open, though the lanes will be separated within the work zone, according to MDOT.
The Ann Arbor Road and Newburgh Road ramps will reopen. The Newburgh Road ramp to westbound I-96, northbound I-275 will be reduced to one lane.
Michigan State Police will be assisting in the frequent freeway closures.
