(WWJ) — A pair of young Kentucky men are behind bars after a shooting at a Michigan gas station Sunday morning.

The shooting happened around 9 a.m. on Dec. 1 at a Shell station on M-33 near I-75 in Arenac County, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers from the West Branch Post were called to the gas station after getting reports of a man with a gun. On their way to the scene, 911 callers told dispatchers the man had fired the gun at a car with people inside, then drove away.

The victim, who wasn’t hit by the shots, gave a description of two suspects and their vehicle. A short time later, troopers made contact with the suspects, both 18-year-old men from Kentucky.

The investigation led troopers to two homes in Gladwin County, where they recovered two pistols used in the incident, one with an extended magazine and switch — a device that changes a semi-automatic pistol into a selective fire machine pistol capable of fully automatic fire.

MSP officials did not release any information about a possible motive in the case and it was not clear why the Kentucky men were in Michigan.

While authorities did not release the suspects’ names, both are being held on several felony offenses in Arenac County. The case will be forwarded to the Arenac County Prosecutor's Office for review once the investigation is complete.
