State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) called out a man on Twitter this morning for sending what she described as a death threat to her office -- from his official work email account.

Pohutsky, a microbiologist and first-term legislator who was just re-elected for her second stint in office, said that "every day" she hears from people "who think my colleagues and I should be killed."

And every day, she added, her workplace is getting less and less safe.

"We have a policy right now that no one other than me is allowed in the office unless there is an emergency. This is not just due to COVID. This is also because, despite multiple conversations about it, we haven’t found a reliable way for my staff to get out of the building if one of these people makes good on one of these threats."

Most recently, she said a man named Randall Yaeger sent her a threat from his work email at Yaeger Construction.

"If not ballots, then bullets," the threat reads, adding that the election results were "bogus" and predicts a "mass execution" of public officials.

"This email has already been sent to the authorities after my staffer, Sara, read it. Sara gets emails like this every day," the state rep said.

She added that she knows some will criticize her for calling out a specific constituent, but she felt that she had to do it.

"I will likely face backlash for posting this," the Michigan State grad wrote. "Let me be clear: if your concern is that a person making threats of terrorism had his place of business disclosed and not that he made threats to begin with, then be mad but do it elsewhere.

"I will not defend calling this out. I have been as patient as I intend to be on this matter. Enough is enough."

Fellow Democrat Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has also been vocal about the tone she hears in today's political world. When a kidnap plot unfolded against her, Whitmer blamed those who fanned the flames of political discord, including President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Randall Yaeger was contacted by WWJ 950 for reaction. He has not responded.
