(WWJ) Supporters of President Donald Trump turned out in full force in Waterford Township, ahead of a campaign stop, in the final days of the 2020 race.
WWJ's Charlie Langton spoke to folks who gathered hours in advance on Friday at the Oakland County International Airport -- celebrating everything Trump as they waited to greet the man himself.
Some even camped out overnight.
"It's awesome! It's like Christmas Day! President Trump came back! He loves is!" said Kari Devita of Waterford, who arrived about five hours before the doors opened for the big event.
"Why so early? You want a good spot," she told Langton. "My niece and nephew were front row in Fayetteville. Aunt Kari cannot be last row."
Bill Bailey from Grand Haven was also among those who lined up before dawn -- laden with Trump wares galore.
"We've got pins and buttons; we've got Trump totes, car flags, bumper stickers. We've got the Donald head that goes on the side of the car. We've got socks, gloves," he said. "We've got you name it -- it's Trump stuff."
Mark from Oakland County, who declined to give his last name, said he doesn't believe that Trump is truly behind in the polls.
"I don't believe it all," he told Langton. "I mean, look at all these people here. We're all energized, he's energized. He's doing five rallies today, you know? The guy's not hiding in his basement and getting rest, or whatever. He's on the move. He wants the votes."
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden also visiting Michigan late this week, joined by former President Barack Obama.
Biden and Obama will be in Flint Saturday afternoon and then make remarks at a drive-in event in Detroit Saturday evening around 5:30 p.m. For both rallies, people will stay in their cars and the remarks will be made in a drive-in format.
