LIVONIA, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Livonia police officer is recovering after he was struck by a car following a high school football game Friday night.
The Livonia Police Department says a reserve police officer was directing traffic along Joy Road following the game between Livonia Franklin and Brighton on Friday night at the time of the incident.
The officer was stopping traffic on Joy to allow vehicles to exit the school parking lot when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Joy.
The officer, whose name and age were not released, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident and was taken to an area hospital. The man is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities have not released any further details about the incident. It was not clear whether the driver stopped at the scene or if they are facing any possible charges.
