LIVONIA (WWJ) – The search is on for a missing elderly man with dementia who Livonia police say is in danger.
Livonia police on Sunday issued an Endangered Missing Alert for 73-year-old Thomas Smith, Jr., who was last seen on Saturday.
Authorities say Smith left the Home Towne Studios hotel on Middlebelt near Plymouth, where he had been staying, around 11 p.m. Saturday.
Family members say Thomas used to live in Detroit and is unfamiliar with the city of Livonia. He does not have a cell phone or credit cards in his possession.
Police describe Smith as about 5-foot-5, 125 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a red and blue plaid shirt, black jeans, tennis shoes and a Detroit Tigers baseball cap.
Officials are asking anyone who has seen Thomas Smith, Jr. or knows of his whereabouts to call 911 or the Livonia Police Department at 734-466-2470.
