TROY (WWJ) -- A Lyft employee from Detroit is facing charges for driving drunk -- on the job.

On July 2 at 3:21 a.m., the Troy Police Department said officers pulled over a 2020 Kia Optima on Rochester Road and Player Drive after observing multiple traffic violations.

Police said when officers made contact with the driver, a 38-year-old-female from Detroit, she told them she was a Lyft driver and was currently transporting a passenger.

Officers said her eyes appeared glassy and bloodshot and there was also a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle. When asked if she had been drinking, she admitted to drinking two bottles of beer before driving.

Police said she performed poorly on several sobriety evaluations.

She also completed a preliminary breath test with a result of .180%.

Police ended up arresting the driver and taking her to the Troy Police Lock-Up Facility where she agreed to submit to a chemical breath test. Her results were at .18%. The driver was issued a citation for operating while intoxicated.

Her Lyft passenger was transported to his house in Rochester Hills by police officers.
