MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - Two deputies with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office are facing multiple misdemeanor charges after one of them allegedly slapped a minor in their custody last month.

The deputies, identified as Derek Reed and Alan Weir, were arraigned on Tuesday, Sept. 20, in connection to the August 30th altercation when they were assigned to bring a juvenile to the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center for a probation violation.

According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, Reed slapped the juvenile while taking them into custody.

Weir is charged with Willful Neglect of Duty, a one-year misdemeanor.

Both deputies were given a personal bond of $100 and ordered to have no contact with the victim.

"While we recognize the challenging situations law enforcement officers often face, it is our firm commitment to ensure that the boundaries of justice and restraint are never crossed. We must hold those entrusted with upholding the law to the highest standard," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J.
