ARMADA (WWJ) - Firefighters had to work against the clock to save one person trapped inside a vehicle that crashed into a creek in Macomb County on Thursday.

Officials with the Armada Township Fire Department said crews were faced with a difficult rescue after they were called to the scene where a truck was half-submerged in a waterway flooded with rainwater.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and located one person still inside the truck, but creek water hindered rescue efforts as it quickly filled the cabin.

Officials said crews were eventually able to free the occupant, who sustained no injuries in the crash.

At this time, is unclear how to the vehicle ended up in the creek.

"In addition to fire suppression and advanced life support training, we prepare for multiple types of rescue emergencies," the department said. "Today, that training paid off."

The department added that they are proud to offer their services to citizens around the clock in a number of capacities.
