HAZEL PARK (WWJ) – A Macomb County man is behind bars after he was caught speeding on I-75 and police found a gun in his car early Sunday morning.

Michigan State Police officials say a trooper stopped the driver after clocking him at 99 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-75 near Hazel Park.

The 20-year-old Clinton Township man had a loaded Glock magazine in the glove box and a .40 caliber Glock behind the passenger seat, both in plain view, according to MSP.

Authorities say the driver did not have a CPL and told the trooper he was “open carrying.”

The driver, whose name has not been released, was arrested and lodged.

MSP officials say this is the third CCW arrest made by the same trooper this month.

The case is pending prosecutor review.
