(WWJ) A Northern Michigan man is facing a felony assault charge after an incident on the Manistee River over the weekend.
At around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, troopers with the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post were called to the Harvey Bridge Boat Launch in Hanover Township on an assault complaint.
A woman told troopers that she and her boyfriend got into an argument while kayaking on the river, and the boyfriend — 36-year-old Daniel Joshua Lueck — assaulted her and held her underwater.
After police spoke with Lueck and several witnesses at the scene, Lueck was arrested and booked in the Wexford County Jail.
Lueck was arraigned Monday in 84th District Court in Wexford County on one count Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder. Bond was set at $1,000.
Police said Lueck, a resident of Kinsley in Grand Traverse County, will be back in court for a hearing on Aug. 31.
