PONTIAC (WWJ) — A man is awaiting charges for allegedly shooting another man following an argument at a motorcycle club in Pontiac Tuesday night.

The 55-year-old suspect was arrested at a motel early Wednesday morning, hours after allegedly shooting 42-year-old Charlie Odneal, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Night Riders Motorcycle Club at Raeburn and Sanford, near Woodward and South Boulevard E, after getting reports of a possible shooting.

When deputies showed up they learned Odneal had been privately taken to the hospital. He died around 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect and the Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested him without incident at approximately 4:40 a.m. at a nearby motel.

Investigators, including a special agent with the ATF, determined the shooting stemmed from an argument. No further details were released.

The suspect’s name has not been released. The sheriff’s office says Friday is the earliest the case could be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.

“Once again, an argument escalated into a senseless homicide,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “I appreciate the great work of our team to quickly identify the suspect and further, to locate and arrest him.”
