ARMADA TWP. (WWJ) — A St. Clair County man is behind bars after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver during a road rage incident in Macomb County.

It happened Tuesday in Armada Township, according to Michigan State Police. Troopers were called to the scene, where they found the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat of his car with a pistol on the front passenger seat.

The suspect — a 60-year-old man from Smiths Creek, about 12 miles west of Port Huron — allegedly picked up the gun when troopers ordered him out of the car.

He was ordered to drop the weapon, which he did. He was arrested for felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

The man, whose name was not released, is being held in police custody, pending prosecutor review.

Authorities have not said what sparked the alleged road rage incident or where exactly it took place.

“There is nothing that happens while driving that should make you so mad to point a gun at someone.” MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw said in a social media post. “We are glad the suspect complied with the troopers commands and this incident came to an end without anyone getting hurt.”
