CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of a Chesterfield Township man on the Fourth of July.

According to police, neighbors and friends were celebrating the holiday on Jamaica Avenue early Monday when a fight broke out, and escalated to gunfire.

When officials arrived at the scene, a 50-year-old man who was shot during the altercation was lying in the front yard. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

47-year-old Joseph Olceski was arrested following the incident, and a 48-year-old man was also taken into custody.

Now, Olceski has been charged with second-degree homicide, and a felony firearm violation.

He was arraigned on Wednesday at 42-2 District Court, and is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail on a bond of $250,000.

The 48-year-old man who was also arrested was released without charges.

Police say the fatal shooting was the second murder in Chesterfield Township in just over 24 hours.

On Saturday night, a 28-year-old man was arrested after calling 911 to say he shot a 31-year-old man during an argument. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
