MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- Murder charges have been filed against a man who was arrested for allegedly murdering a woman at a Madison Heights motel.
Police were called out to the Madison Heights Rodeway Inn shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Monday on reports of a disturbance.
When they entered the motel room, authorities discovered a 29-year-old woman dead. She had been shot five times.
The suspect — 21-year-old Jajuan West — was found hiding nearby at a gas station located at 14 Mile and Stephenson Highway, shortly after the incident.

A handgun allegedly used in the shooting was also recovered from the area.
On Wednesday, West was arraigned on one count of open murder and was denied bond.
Police say that West and the victim lived together at the motel.
