TOLEDO (WWJ) -- A man is dead after leading police on a high-speed chase that started in Monroe and ended in Toledo.
The situation started shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Monday when police were called to the Monroe Mall on reports of shots being fired outside of the Phoenix Theaters.
By the time police arrived, the suspect was gone. That’s when police spotted his vehicle and attempted to get him to pull over, but the suspect fled the scene.
Authorities reportedly tried to negotiate with the man, who was holding a gun to his head, but they were unsuccessful in getting him to drop his weapon.
According to Toledo police, the suspect — who’s name has not yet been released — was then shot and killed.
No police officers were injured during the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
