
MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) – A 25-year-old Hazel Park man is been charged with making a threat of terrorism after allegedly making threats to shoot up a store in Madison Heights last weekend.
It all unfolded last Saturday when Jimmie Lickman was in an unidentified store in Troy, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors say while he was in the store, he allegedly made “threatening suicidal and homicidal statements” involving the Mico Center store in Madison Heights, located near 14 Mile Road and I-75, close to the city’s border with Troy.
While authorities didn’t release any further details about the alleged threat, but say police were called and he was taken into custody.
Lickman was arraigned Tuesday in 43rd District Court before Magistrate Mitchell and bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety 10%.
“Threats of violence disrupt life and the sense of safety of entire communities. I commend the individual who alerted authorities in this instance,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said, per a press release. “My office takes these threats seriously and will work to hold this person accountable.”
Making a threat of terrorism is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine up to $20,000.
Lickman’s next court date is scheduled for July 26.
