(WWJ) A 22-year-old man is behind bars after it's alleged he shot another man in the head in Pontiac over the weekend.
The victim, a 36-year-old Pontiac resident, was found just before 2 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Dwight St. in Pontiac. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says a man was walking to a friend's house when he discovered the victim lying facedown in the middle of the street, not moving. The victim appeared to be holding his head, the witness said, and there was a "large pool of blood" around his body.
The witness called 911 and OCSO deputies and EMS responded to the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead, and investigators found a single spent shell casing next to his body.
Deputies canvassed the area and a K9 Unit began a track, but didn't find anything. Following further investigation, the sheriff's office says detectives developed some leads and took an acquaintance of the victim into custody early Monday morning.
It's alleged that the two men were walking together when the suspect fired a handgun at the victim, killing him — although it's not yet clear why.
No names have been released, with autopsy results and expected charges pending.
