VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) – A man is recovering from minor injuries after he was found dumped in a Wayne County landfill early Monday morning.

Van Buren Township police were called to the Woodland Meadows Landfill on Hannan Road around 7:30 a.m. Monday after a garbage truck driver saw a man inside the landfill.

Authorities say the driver had retrieved the waste container in the city of Detroit and drove nearly 30 miles to Woodland Meadows, where it was emptied.

That’s when the driver of the truck noticed a man stand up from the ground and begin to walk away.

The 49-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics, then taken to the hospital for what appeared to be minor injuries, according to Van Buren Township Public Safety officials.

No further information has been released, including how the man ended up in the truck.
