Police searching for man who held a knife against another shopper's throat at Ann Arbor Target

ANN ABOR (WWJ) -- University of Michigan Public Safety is urging Ann Arbor students to be vigilant after an alleged assault at a local Target store.

According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, the incident happened at the Target on S. State Street, shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Monday.


Investigators said two people were walking in the door of the store when they bumped into each other, and begin to argue.

Police said the suspect then pulled out a folded pocket knife and held it against the victim's throat.

The victim was able to push the suspect away, and the two separated.

Both continued shopping before leaving the store, police said.

Now police are now looking for the suspect.

He is described as a Black male, around 20 years old and 6' tall, with a thin build and short curly hair. He was wearing a dark navy or black jacket.

Look assertive and be aware of your surroundings.

Walk with a friend or co-worker in well-lit areas
If you feel threatened, look for a blue light emergency phone or call 911 from any phone.
