WARREN (WWJ) -- A man is dead after a police pursuit chase ended in a crash into a pole, Wednesday afternoon in Warren.
According to Warren Police Commissioner Charles Rushton, the chase started in the area of 8 Mile Rd. and Mound, when a man driving a blue Chevy Malibu sped away from a traffic stop.
The officer, who was on motorcycle, chased the man for about a mile, to the area of Ryan Rd. and Outer Drive, where the Chevy crashed.
"He lost control control of his vehicle, struck a light pole and then rolled over several times," Rushton said. "The suspect was ejected out of the car, and pronoucned deceased at the scene."
Rushton said police believe the man had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest, including for weapons violations, but they're still working to positively confirm the driver's identity.
The investigation is ongoing.
No one else was hurt.
