(WWJ) Detroit Police are searching for a wanted gunman who fled after it's alleged he shot two people on the city's west side.

Parrish Demone VanPelt, 26, should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Investigating the deadly incident Wednesday afternoon, police said they cleared a home where the suspect was thought to have barricaded himself inside.

A SWAT team was on the scene Wednesday afternoon, in the 17100 block of Stoepel, in the area of W. McNichols and Livernois on the city's west side.

While police believed they had a standoff on their hands, investigators later found that suspected shooter was not inside the home.

Police said there are two gunshot victims in this case, including a 24-year-old man who was killed.

The second victim, a 25-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said the woman's injuries were more serious than they initially thought and that she was last listed in critical condition.

Detroit Police Chief James White said investigators believe this was a "family dispute" that started with a verbal argument and escalated; ultimately ending in what he called "tragic gunfire."

Anyone who sees this wanted man should call 911 immediately.
