MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) – An Oklahoma man could spend more than four decades behind bars after being convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teen in Macomb County.
Bryan Harper, 43, was sentenced Tuesday to up to 46 years in prison for the crimes, which happened last summer. He was convicted of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office said back on June 15, 2022 Harper, presenting himself as a 14-year-old boy, contacted the 14-year-old girl online.
He then met up with her, tied her up and kidnapped her. Officials did not specify where the crime happened or where the girl was from. No other details surrounding the case were released.
Judge James Biernat of the 16th District Circuit Court sentenced Harper to 154 months to 552 months for the two CSC charges and 135 months to 552 months for the kidnapping charge.
Harper was also sentenced to lifetime electronic monitoring, ordered to comply with the Sex Offender Registry and Wyatt's Law, as well as subsequent fines and costs.
"Criminal Sexual Conduct of a minor is one of the most heinous and vile crimes, and those who take advantage of our youth deserve the strictest penalty," said Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido. "We hope this sentencing makes Macomb County safer, and helps give some closure to the victim and her family."
