Man shot and robbed while selling marijuana in Detroit [VIDEO]

Police are hoping the public can help them identify the suspects

(WWJ) Police are searching for suspects after a man was robbed at gunpoint and shot while selling marijuana on Detroit's west side.

The incident was caught on Project Green Light video at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the 18300 block of W. Chicago St., just west of the Southfield Fwy.

According to police, the 30-year-old victim met up with the suspect to sell him some marijuana. While the two were talking, a second man got out of a pickup truck, ran up to the victim, stole the pot at gunpoint and shot him.

Both suspects then jumped into the passenger side of the pickup, which fled south on Fitzpatrick Ave.

The victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was listed in temporary serious condition.

Suspect number one was described as a Black male in his 20s, wearing all red.

Suspect two was also a Black male in his 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and light colored pants, and armed with a handgun.

There is no description of the driver of the pickup, which was described as an older-model Chevy or GMC. It was dark-colored, possibly dark green and did not have a tailgate. Both rear wells had Bondo filler or primer paint, police said. The truck had running board and two stickers in the rear window: a small American flag in the bottom right corner, and Harley Davidson wings in the center of the glass.

Police released video of the suspects on Tuesday, hoping that someone in the public will recognize them or their vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's 6th Precinct Detective Unit at 313-596-5640. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP (1-800-773-2587).
