Police searching for gunman who escaped after double shooting in Detroit

(WWJ) Detroit police are on the hunt for a suspect who shot two people, killing one of them, Monday afternoon.

The gunfire rang out at around 1:30 p.m., in the the 12500 block of Linwood, south of the Davison Freeway.


According to investigators, the gunman was seen speaking with a 25-year-old man before he fired multiple shots, killing him.

A second victim was also shot and taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment. Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

After the shooting, police said the suspect escaped -- fleeing the scene in a gold GMC Envoy. He is described as a Black male with a slim build, possibly with his hair in dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing black clothing.

A motive for the shooting is unknown, and police said they have no further information at this time.
