WARREN (WWJ) -- A man is still listed in critical condition following a shooting outside of a gas station in Warren.
On Sunday, police found the man -- reported to be in his 30s -- shot in the neck and laying outside of Circle-K on Van Dyke near 11 Mile Road following a 911 call.
Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer says several thousand dollars, along with a large amount of drugs, were left at the scene.
Officials suspect the situation was a botched drug deal, and believe the shooter failed to take the money and drugs before fleeing the gas station.
“Our theory is, the incident appears to be a narcotics deal gone bad,” Dwyer said on Monday. “We recovered several thousand dollars along with a large amount of drugs at the scene.”
A 38-year-old man was taken into custody by police on Monday night in Albion in relation to the shooting.
Police are continuing to investigate the situation.
