SOUTHGATE (WWJ) - Southgate Police are investigating a stabbing at a hotel Downriver that left one man hospitalized early Wednesday morning.
Southgate Police Department told WWJ's Mike Campbell that the incident occurred sometime before 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 at the La Quinta Inn by Wyndham-Detroit/Southgate, near Allen and Northline roads.
According to police, the male victim was not a hotel guest, but "wandered in" to the hotel and was stabbed in the chest by an unknown assailant.
The victim was transported to a hospital in Trenton where his condition has been reportedly upgraded to stable, Campbell said.
Detectives are continuing to investigate, but police told Campbell that there is no surveillance video that captured the incident.
At this time, the circumstances that led up to the stabbing remain unknown. No information about a suspect has been released.
